London, 25-28 June 2018
 
The organizers encourage proposals that take up the theme in original ways,
exploring not only new approaches, but bringing different new approaches into
dialogue with each other, including across disciplines and across regions. In
addition, proposals on any topic related to Middle Eastern Studies are invited,
regardless of their fit with the conference's main theme.

from the MENA Region in Their New Environments", World Congress for Middle Eastern

Organizer: Katharina Kilian-Yasin, Pforzheim University (Germany). The papers should
investigate the changes that individuals, groups, and societies undergo in this
situation of forced migration, shedding light on the implications of the specific
situation of refugees from the MENA region, on coping strategies, challenges,
problems and future perspectives. The papers should address socio-cultural,
psychological, legal, political, educational etc. issues in the field of refugees
from the MENA region with diverse methodological approaches.

15. Visiting Fellowship at the TürkeiEuropaZentrum, Hamburg 
 
This centre is a unique place for the study of contemporary Turkey with respect to
interdisciplinary and critical research. In order to promote international academic
exchange, it offers one visiting fellowship (one to three months) per year.
Applications that expand current research focus of the centre (gender and politics,
consumption and culture, environment and environmental humanities) are particularly
welcome, however we also look forward to other interesting applications.

16. Grants from the "Endangered Archives Programme" of the British Library 
 
The archival material (including rare printed books, newspapers and periodicals,
audio and audio-visual materials, photographs and manuscripts) should relate to a
'pre-modern' period of a society's history (any period before industrialisation). It
should be acutely threatened by a natural or man-made disaster and needs immediate
action to safeguard it.

Grants provide funding for researchers working on early Arab diaspora and migration
