civil society, and politics from Egypt and beyond to discuss relevant issues to the
media in times of transformation and conflict. It is organized on behalf of the
Arab-German Young Academy for Sciences and Humanities by Dr. Hanan Badr and Prof.
Dr. Carola Richter. The keynote will be held by Dr. Sahar Khamis at the German

The conference will explore the predicament of young women and men in and from the
MENA region in contemporary times. It brings together scholars and activists with
the aim to analyse the visions, desires and projects emerging in the post-uprisings
contexts among youth individuals, affective communities, social and political
