2. Workshop of the Muslim South Asia Research Forum (MUSA):  "Negotiating
Technologies", University of Cambridge, 14-15 October 2016
 
The workshop is jointly organized by SOAS, CEIAS (CNRS-EHESS), Paris, & the Centre
of South Asian Studies, Cambridge. It will look at the multiple facets of technology
among Muslims in South Asia. Papers are invited from PhD students in advanced stages
of their research.

6. Conference: "Medicine, Environment and Health in the Eastern Mediterranean World,
1400-1750", University of Cambridge, 3-4 April 2017 
 
Taking as our focus the politically heterogeneous southern Europe and eastern
Mediterranean, the Mamluk Kingdom, and the Ottoman Empire, we aim to reconstruct the
healthscape of this region in the early modern period, exploring its medical unity
and disunity and the human and environmental factors that played a part in it.

8. Workshop: "Jerusalem and Palestine in the Midst of Conflicting Confessional and
Political Interests - Aspects of a History of Relations between East and West in the
19th Century", Austrian Historical Institute, Rome, 28 September 2017 
 
The workshop's goal is to present new approaches in a field of research that came up
a long time ago. Given the existing divergences at the level of frame of mind and
reality, it will be necessary to overcome the traditional borders between
disciplines.

12. Association for Middle East Anthropology Graduate Student Paper Prize 2016
 
The Prize will be publicly announced at the AMEA Annual Meeting at MESA. The winner
will receive a $100 cash award and a certificate. The winner will also be invited to
submit the paper for publication in the journal "Anthropology of the Middle East".
