topics:  Shortfalls of the current economic policies implemented by countries in
MENA; Income and wealth redistribution policies and mechanisms; The economic impacts
of Labour and social protection policies;  Inclusive agricultural and industrial
policy reforms; Public social services; Inclusive economic reform policies; Human
development policies and regional development; Investment and trade policies.

2. Conference: "International Law & National Policies toward Protecting Natural
Resources in Palestine", University of Palestine, Gaza Al-Zahra City, 12-13 December
2015
 
The conference will be held by the university's faculty of Law and Judicial Practice
and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP/PAPP). It will highlight the
methodology of using the provisions and principles of international law and the
national policies to face the challenges dictated by the Israeli occupation
depriving the Palestinian people from their right of exploiting the national natural
resources in Palestine.

3. Conference: "The Qur'an: Text, Society and Culture", School of Oriental and
African Studies (SOAS), University of London, 11-13 February 2016
 
The conference series seeks to provide a forum for investigating the basic question:
how is the Qur'anic text read and interpreted? Our objective is to encompass a
global vision of current research trends, and to stimulate discussion, debate and
research on all aspects of the Qur'anic text and its interpretation and translation.
Selected papers will be published as articles in the Journal of Qur'anic Studies.

4. Annual Conference of the Mediterranean Studies Association, University of
Palermo, 25-28 May 2016  
 
Proposals are solicited for individual paper presentations, panel discussions, and
complete sessions on all subjects related to the Mediterranean region and
Mediterranean cultures around the world from all historical periods. The official
languages of the Congress are English and Italian. But complete sessions in any
Mediterranean language are welcome.

The Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) invites applications from mid-career
or senior scholars who would like to develop a specific research project within this
overall theme and to form and coordinate a Working Group of 6-8 members engaged in
collaborative team research for a period of three years.

11. New Post-Doctoral Fellowships Program for Junior Arab Scholars, Arab Council for
the Social Sciences
 
This 9-month fellowship program aims at enabling young researchers, up to three
years out of the PhD, to pursue their research and publishing plans, become part of
Arab research networks and plan a research career in the Arab region.
